GRASP LAB TREEHOUSE
University of Pennsylvania
The all-new laboratory, part of the University of Pennsylvania’s Pennovation Works initiative to cultivate science and technology innovation, is the third official location of the GRASP program (UPenn’s General Robotics, Automation, Sensing, and Perception lab) on the Pennovation Center campus. It is a creative space for robotics students to collaborate and develop projects, containing lab space, multipurpose spaces, and faculty/staff offices.
Eye-catching teal and purple accent walls are scattered throughout the space and the collaborative work tables in the main lab area are lined with purple chairs. These bright and unique pops of color evoke a sense of whimsy and creativity that echoes the sentiment behind the space’s official name: the GRASP Treehouse. Ford 3 worked closely with GRASP staff and the SEAS in-house design team to create an environment that met both their technical and aspirational goals.
